Site visits, road trips & everything else

Other networks, long drives out of the Natural State, vehicle reviews, and the news worth talking about.

These are still only on YouTube for now — the full run of site visits, road trips and reviews lives on the channel.

Gas at the pump versus electrons at home. Enter the numbers that your real-world experience indicates. Then, you can even adjust numbers for different scenarios. You are in control, and none of this data is saved!

Your drive

Use the odometer, not an estimate. Include the detour to daycare.

I drive miles round trip, days a year. My car gets miles per gallon, and gas near me costs $ a gallon.

The electric car

Efficiency is the number on the dash. Charging wastes a little, so we bill you for 10 percent more than the dash shows, the way your meter does.

The EV gets miles per kilowatt-hour. At home I pay $ per kilowatt-hour, and my nearest fast charger posts $ per kilowatt-hour. I would charge percent of my miles away from home.

Your home rate is on the last page of your power bill, and an overnight rate is usually the cheapest energy you can buy. For the fast charger, use the price posted in that network's app for the station you would actually use. If you have no home charging at all, put 100 in the last blank.

Sources: the national average is Paren's figure for the second quarter of 2026. The two Walmart numbers come from our own register of every station in that network, kept since October 2024. They measure different things. The on-peak average is what the sign says during the day. The overnight average is what a growing share of those stations charge between 10 at night and 9 in the morning.

The math is the same on both sides: cost per mile, times your miles, times your days. Nothing is saved, stored or sent anywhere. Check the figures against your own bill before you buy a car on them.
